Set what the Event Ticketing app does to a Shopify product and its variants after an event ends — stop sales, archive or delete the product, or sell out the variant — from Settings.

The Product management settings tell the app what to do with the Shopify products and variants it created once an event is over. You set a Product action, a Variant action, and when to stop sales. These settings apply account-wide to every event, not per event.

Requirements: The Event Ticketing app installed.

Open the settings

  1. In the Event Ticketing app, go to Settings.
  2. Find the Product management section.

  3. Change any of the controls below, then save with the save bar at the top of the page.

Product action

Product action controls what happens to the whole Shopify product when its event ends:

  • Do nothing — the product is left as is.
  • Archive product — the product is archived in Shopify.
  • Delete product — the product is removed from your store. Deleting it does not affect sales reports.

Variant action

Variant action controls what happens to each ticket (a product variant) when its event ends:

  • Do nothing — the variant is left as is.
  • Delete variant — the variant is removed from the product. Use this to hide or remove the ticket.
  • Make variant sold-out — the variant’s available inventory is set to zero, so it shows as sold out.

If Variant action is set to Delete variant and the last remaining variant on a product is deleted, the product is deleted too — even when Product action is Do nothing.

Stop sales

Stop sales controls when the app stops selling tickets for an event, relative to its schedule:

  • When the event is over
  • Before the event begins
  • Before the event is over

For the two “before” options, set the Minutes field to choose how long before — the menu ranges from 0 minutes up to 10 days. With When the event is over selected, Minutes does not apply.

The Stop sales and Minutes controls stay disabled until you choose a Product action or Variant action other than Do nothing.

FAQ

Do these settings apply to one event or all events?

All of them. Product management settings are account-wide and affect every event. There is no per-event override here.

What happens to past events when I change a setting?

Changing a Product action or Variant action away from Do nothing applies that action to every past event in your account, not only to events that end from now on.

Can my product get deleted when Product action is “Do nothing”?

Yes. If Variant action is Delete variant and the deleted variant is the last one on the product, the product is deleted along with it, regardless of the Product action setting.

Why are the Stop sales and Minutes fields greyed out?

They stay disabled while both Product action and Variant action are set to Do nothing. Choose a different Product action or Variant action to enable them.

Does deleting a product remove it from my sales reports?

No. Deleting the product through this setting does not affect sales reports.
