A promotion applies a discount to an online order. It can require a promo code at checkout, or apply automatically based on what’s in the cart. Each promotion combines optional rules (the conditions that must be met) with one or more actions (the discount or effect to apply).

Requirements: A Guest Manager account with online ticketing enabled.

Create a promotion

  1. Open your order settings and go to Promotions.

  2. Add a new promotion.

  3. Enter the promotion details:
    • Name — internal reference only; buyers don’t see it.
    • Code — the promo code a buyer enters at checkout. Leave blank for a promotion that applies automatically.
    • Usage limit — the maximum number of times the promotion can be used in total. Leave blank for unlimited.
  4. Add rules to limit when the promotion applies — for example, only on specific events or registration types. With no rules, the promotion applies to any item in the order.

  5. Set the match policy to control how multiple rules combine: all requires every rule to match; any requires at least one.

  6. Add one or more actions to define the discount. To take a percentage or fixed amount off, add a discount action and set its calculator (for example, a percentage off each matching line item).

  7. Save the promotion.

The promotion is live and applies the next time an order meets its rules. Test it by placing an order and entering the code, or, for an automatic promotion, by adding the qualifying items.

FAQ

Why isn’t my promo code working?

Check the promotion’s status and limits. A promotion applies only while it’s enabled and within its start and end dates, and stops once it reaches its usage limit. If it has rules, the order must satisfy them under the match policy — with the match policy set to all, every rule must be met.

Can a promotion apply without a code?

Yes. Leave the Code field blank and add rules describing the cart conditions. The discount applies automatically to any order that meets the rules.

Can I schedule a promotion to start or end on a date?

Yes. Set a start date, an end date, or both. Outside that window the promotion is inactive even if it has a code.

Can I make an order free with a promotion?

Yes. Add a discount action with a calculator that reduces the total to zero. To issue complimentary tickets without a buyer-facing checkout instead, see Credits and free tickets.

Can I use a promo code to track where an order came from?

Yes. Add the order-channel action to a promotion so any order using that code is tagged with a channel. You can then filter and export orders by channel. Create the channel in your order settings first if it isn’t already listed.
