A recurring event generates its dates from a repeating schedule, keeping a set number of upcoming occurrences and rolling forward as past dates pass. Use it when the schedule is regular and you don’t need to touch individual dates. For when to choose recurring over multi-date, see Choosing an event type.

Requirements: The Event Ticketing app installed.

These settings can’t be changed after you create the event. Recurring events aren’t editable after creation and you can’t add dates to them manually. If you need that flexibility, use a multi-date event instead.

Create the event

  1. In the Event Ticketing app, start a new event and choose Recurring under Event type.
  2. Set the Event name and Location.
  3. In the Recurrences section, set the schedule:
    • Repeats — how often (Every N minute/hour/day/week/month/year) and the Duration of each occurrence.
    • For weekly schedules, choose the days of the week; for monthly, choose the day-of-month or the “nth weekday” pattern.
    • Starts — when the schedule begins.
    • Ends — after a number of occurrences, on a date, or never. For never, set how many active occurrences to keep ahead.
  4. Review the generated dates in the Preview, add at least one ticket, and check the Shopify preview.
  5. Click Save. The schedule generates its occurrences.

Managing dates

  • Dates generate automatically on a rolling basis, keeping the number of active occurrences you set. You can’t add or edit individual dates.
  • To remove a generated date, delete the corresponding variant in Shopify → Products.
  • Sold tickets stay valid after the schedule rolls forward.

FAQ

How do I add more dates to a recurring event?

You can’t add them manually — recurring events generate dates on a rolling schedule and aren’t editable after creation. If you need to add or edit specific dates, use a multi-date event instead.

Can I sell passes on a recurring event?

Yes — passes are available on both recurring and multi-date events. See Choosing an event type.
