Event Ticketing has two billing levers. Change your plan from the Plans page in the app, or cancel completely by uninstalling the app. To stop a recurring monthly fee while keeping your events, downgrade to the free On Demand plan instead of uninstalling.
Requirements: The Event Ticketing app installed.
Switch plans (including downgrade to free)
-
Open the Event Ticketing app in your Shopify admin and go to Plans.
-
On the plan you want, click the button. It reads Upgrade or Downgrade depending on whether the plan is higher or lower than your current one. Your current plan shows Current Plan and can’t be selected.
-
Shopify shows its approval screen for the new subscription. Approve it to confirm the change.
Your plan updates and the app shows a Plan updated! confirmation.
Pause billing: downgrade to On Demand
On Demand has no monthly fee — you pay only when you sell a ticket. Downgrading to it stops your recurring charge while keeping your events, attendees, and reports.
- Go to Plans.
- On the On Demand card, click Downgrade.
- Approve the change in Shopify.
You keep all your data and stop paying monthly. This is the option for off-season periods or gaps between events. See Understanding your Shopify bill for how per-ticket fees appear.
Cancel completely: uninstall the app
Uninstalling Event Ticketing from your Shopify admin cancels the app subscription. There is no separate cancellation step.
- In your Shopify admin, go to Settings → Apps and sales channels (or Apps).
- Find Event Ticketing and uninstall it.
The subscription is cancelled and recurring billing stops.

FAQ
Should I downgrade or uninstall?
Downgrade to On Demand if you want to stop the monthly fee but keep your events, attendees, and reports — there’s no charge unless you sell a ticket. Uninstall only if you’re done with the app entirely.
What happens to my data when I uninstall?
Uninstalling removes the app’s access to your store and cancels the subscription. Your events and attendee data aren’t deleted right away — if you don’t reinstall within 30 days, they’re archived.
I uninstalled and reinstalled — is my data back?
Yes. Reinstalling within the retention window restores your existing events and attendees; the app reattaches to the same account. If you reinstalled after a long gap and data is missing, contact support.
Does cancelling or closing my Shopify store cancel Event Ticketing?
Uninstalling the app is what cancels the Event Ticketing subscription. If you’re closing your store, uninstall the app to be sure billing stops.
The original account owner left and we can’t change the plan.
Contact support and we can adjust or cancel the subscription on your behalf once store ownership is verified.
Why is there no “Cancel subscription” button in the app?
Plan changes (including downgrading to free On Demand) are made from the Plans page. Full cancellation is done by uninstalling the app — Shopify cancels the subscription automatically when the app is removed.
